Lancashire League - Wigan

Ten players from Burnley Judo Club competed in a recent round of matches in the new season of the Lancashire League, held at Wigan Judo Club. First up for the club was Andrew Moores. The young Burnley player fought very well on the day, to be rewarded with a fine Bronze medal position. Chris Pickles, another competition debutant, also came away with the Bronze medal after three very hard fights. Connah Stockdale continues to impress at competition level, yet again finishing in the Gold medal position. Connah secured all of his victories by holding down each of his opponents. Richard Hopwood continues to develop as a player by winning a good Silver medal, despite giving away a lot of experience on the day. Ashleigh Clough and James Mottershead both returned home with a Bronze medal each, following their excellent individual performances. James Tillotson and Keith Bryers both excelled at this particular event, .clean throwing. all of their opponents to take a Gold medal each. Stacey Cummings was another in fine form, throwing three of her four opponents to win the Silver medal. Paul Turner, the only Burnley senior player available on the day, was unlucky to finish just outside of the medal positions, despite putting on a very good performance against more experienced players.
