Lancashire League - Burnley

A total of fourteen Junior Judo players from Burnley Judo Club recently competed in the latest round of the Lancashire League, with this particular round taking place at the Burnley Club.
Chris Pickles was first up producing some fine Judo, and one excellent shoulder throw in particular, to win a Bronze medal.
Andrew Moores and Thomas Rostron also came away with fine wins between them to each gain a Bronze medal.
Connah Stockdale came within a whisker of yet another Gold medal, but the Burnley fighter lost his last fight and had to settle for Silver this time around.
George O.Brien and Andrew Gregory both produced best performances to date, to each finish in the Bronze medal position.
Steven Holt was the star of the day, beating all of his opponents to collect a superb Gold medal.
Francesca Aldis and Anna Moores were both in fine form on the day; both collecting a Bronze medal. Anna was later voted 'Player Of The Day'.
Chris Sutcliffe, Natasha Gregory and Danielle Pickles were three more players whose fine performances earned them a Bronze medal.
Ashleigh Williamson continues to make strides in the sport, as does Liam Demaine, with both of them meriting a Silver medal following their excellent displays.
Due to injuries and holiday commitments, only two players from the Burnley club were able to partake in the recent prestigious .Lakeland Open., in Cumbria.
Despite finishing out of the medal positions, both James Tillotson and Liam Demaine did the local club proud, considering the very high-class opposition in this tournament. Liam fought very well on the day but was unable to overcome his much more experienced and higher ranked opponents. James, also finding himself in the same situation, fought out of his skin only to go out of the competition on a .Golden score. in extra time of his last fight.
